OIS Aerospace Offers for Offsets
Delhi-based OIS AeroSpace (Hall 4 Stand 4/C12), an investor in advanced technology products and services with a focus on the aviation supply chain, offers products that could be tapped to honor India’s defense offsets.
At Farnborough 2014 yesterday OIS announced IObserver, a low-cost, fixed-wing, manned aerial surveillance platform based on the Italian SkyArrow very light aircraft (VLA). The platform was developed by OIS, OEM for the SkyArrow platform in India.
The company will also announce a simulator platform for airplanes, helicopters and avionics in India, an outcome of its relationship with Germany’s ADS Avionics.
This allows for integration and testing of avionics hardware as part of the cockpit simulation environment. The platform is also likely to provide opportunities for aircraft manufacturers and their Tier 1 suppliers for work packages to help satisfy defense-offset obligations in India.
“We are looking forward to our cooperation with OIS AeroSpace to advance our technology across the various sectors in India,” said Marko Beutler, CEO Avionic Design Service (ADS). ADS is an engineering service provider for system and software development for the aerospace industry.
With a range of configurations for surveillance starting at 100 km, the iObserver’s payload configurations can include reconnaissance missions, ground surveillance, maritime patrol, civil protection, disaster and relief assessment and more, according to Sanjay Bhandari, chairman and managing director, OIS Group.
“The iObserver has lower life-cycle costs than other manned surveillance platforms, as it has a low-cost platform that does not require aviation fuel because it runs on high-octane, unleaded gasoline. This cost benefit is augmented by the platform’s low and easy maintenance,” added Bhandari.
Another strategic relationship in the cards for OIS is with Logic of Italy for marketing, manufacturing, supply and maintenance of avionics.
