Aviation fuel supplier Epic and U.S. Bank Multi Service Aviation introduced a new Epic/Multi Service Aviation co-branded aviation services card today at the Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference in New Orleans. According to the companies, the new card will be accepted globally via the Multi Service Aviation network starting in the first quarter.

CAE announced yesterday that it will start accepting Avcard, an aviation charge card from World Fuel Services, as a form of payment at its business aviation training centers in Dallas and New York. Avcard acceptance allows CAE customers to earn FlyBuys Rewards when they pay for training with the card. CAE plans eventually to expand this payment option to its other business aircraft training facilities, including those in Amsterdam, São Paulo, Shanghai, Dubai, London and Phoenix. The company offers training on more than 80 business aircraft platforms.

Shell has developed a lead-free replacement for 100LL avgas that will now begin going through the regulatory approvals process at the FAA and EASA, as well as the American Society for Testing and Materials. The company’s new formulation comes after 10 years of “exhaustive” research and development, as well as successful initial testing carried out in the last two months by Lycoming and Piper Aircraft. Its new fuel meets all key avgas properties and has an octane exceeding 100.

DhabiJet–the FBO at Al Bateen Executive Airport, the only dedicated business aviation airport in the Middle East–has begun offering fueling services to all visiting aircraft at the Abu Dhabi, UAE airfield. It also plans to offer discounted fuel to attract technical stopovers and to encourage more airlines and private jets to use Al Bateen Executive Airport as their hub in the Middle East.

Air BP has launched the first direct cash-back reward card for the general aviation market. The Sterling Reward Prepaid Visa card will enable the fuel provider’s Sterling Card holders to earn money back on fuel purchases. The company is rolling out the program first for U.S. customers who can apply online. Customers who receive the card will receive one U.S. cent deposited back into the card for each gallon of fuel purchased from nearly any location that accepts the Sterling card worldwide.

ASIG Panamá expanded its services in Panama at the beginning of this month, launching aircraft fueling services at Albrook “Marcos A. Gelbert” International Airport on October 1. As operator of the airport’s sole fuel facility, the company provides fueling service for all general aviation and domestic commercial flights at the airport.

Air BP secured the first major Asia-Pacific client for its global fuel card when it signed a deal this week with Beijing-based aircraft management and charter operator Deer Jet. Under the agreement, Air BP is providing its Sterling Card for each of Deer Jet’s 62 business jets. The card’s “independent oil company status” will allow Deer Jet to purchase aircraft fuel worldwide. Further, Sterling Card benefits include 24/7 support from the global Air BP out-of-hours team, which provides response service for queries and access to its interactive paperless electronic invoicing system.

North Carolina-based fuel provider Eastern Aviation Fuels (EAF), the exclusive U.S. distributor of Shell aviation fuels, has partnered with the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) to provide training to all 460 of its branded FBOs across the country. EAF’s customers will have access to the full range of NATA Safety 1st training products at special network pricing, including the association’s online Professional Line Service Training, Safety 1st OSHA modules and supervisor training programs.

Fuel logistics company World Fuel Services recently opened an office in São Paulo, with native Paulistano Celso Azuma appointed as business aviation sales executive for the region. The new office provides local “boots on the ground” expertise that will enable the company to serve the needs of FBOs and flight departments more effectively. The office handles the supply of Ascent brand aviation fuel, as well as the Alliance-World Fuel Services contract fuel program and other WFS business aviation-related products and services.

Fuel supplier Air BP is establishing an Operators University at Campo de San Marte Airport in São Paulo. At the new facility, Air BP instructors will train personnel using a range of pneumatic and hydraulic training simulators, cutting tools and a representative aircraft wing to practice both regular refueling operations and safety procedures. Trainees are assessed during and after the course.
