McMurdo Launches Long-distance Intercom For SAR Missions
Device designed to improve communications within emergency team
The V-280 is the next step forward in tiltrotor technology for Bell Helicopter and its partners. With wing-mating accomplished earlier this year, Bell plans to begin installing the GE engines this fall. One new aspect of the V-280 is that its straight wings are fixed, unlike the swiveling wings of the V-22 Osprey. On the V-280, only the engine nacelles and proprotors rotate to morph to-and-from vertical-flight configuration.
