Bond Air Services has announced a contract for two night-vision-equipped Eurocopter EC 135T2 helicopters that will operate a 24/7 service for police in the Strathclyde district of Scotland. The aircraft will be the first NVIS EC 135T2s to operate in the UK. Pilots and observers will use third-generation NVIS goggles in an area of nearly 5,400 sq mi extending from Glasgow to remote West Coast islands, an area with a population of more than 2 million. The seven-year contract will be effective in July 2007. In the last year, Bond has won long-term contracts totaling $130 million that employ seven EC 135T2s and three Bolkow 105s.
