How’s your oil? Jet-Care knows
The U.S. Coast Guard and Eurocopter Mexico are just two of the clients worldwide for whom Jet-Care International (Booth No. 1859) provides oil and debris analysis for turbine engines and gearboxes. Today, Jet-Care monitors the health of more than 13,000 engines, in more than 72 countries, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
Jet-Care has also been picked to perform oil and debris analysis for the more than 200 Turbomeca Arriel 2C2CG engines that power the U.S. Coast Guard’s fleet of re-engined HH-65C Dolphins.
“The Coast Guard was very impressed with the analytical tools made available by Jet-Care,” said USCG chief warrant officer Michael Fannin. “A key reason the Coast Guard chose Jet-Care is its proven record in providing analysis that can improve long-term efficiency and maintenance of engines.”
Jet-Care is now also providing analysis for engines in more than 200 of Eurocopter Mexico’s helicopters, said Eduardo Mendoza, the company’s quality manager. “Jet-Care’s software gives us an historical knowledge of all the aircraft we manage,” Mendoza said, adding that Eurocopter Mexico has been impressed with the speed of Jet-Care’s response. “As soon as they receive an oil sample from us, the analysis is quickly performed and we’re quickly informed.”
“Our value to customers like Eurocopter Mexico and the U.S. Coast Guard is in identifying situations before they become expensive or lead to an in-flight shut down,” said Jet-Care CEO David Glass.
Jet-Care’s oil analysis laboratory in Cedar Knolls, N.J., provides a highly reliable means of checking metal content and other contamination within the oil system. Jet-Care uses advanced techniques and equipment including scanning electron microscopes and inductively coupled plasma spectrometers, and analyzes not just parts per million but down to one part per 100 million.
Eurocopter Mexico is taking advantage of Jet-Care’s oil analysis reports through Jet-Care’s engine con- dition health online (Echo) software for both its laboratory and gas path analysis programs. The support provider is able to download the com- plete history of each engine’s and gearbox’s oil analysis results each day. The reports are available to Jet-Care customers via the company’s secure Web site www. jet-care.com.
Fleet operators have found the Echo software particularly useful in comparison studies that permit them to make long-range plans regarding overhaul, maintenance, parts procurement and other planning and purchasing decisions, Jet-Care said. In addition, a chief engineer who is responsible for a diversified fleet with aircraft in different locations, for example, can forward graphs and results to key personnel requesting data on an engine’s condition.
