Merlin Simulation of Boulder, Colo., recently launched a new level-3 Robinson R22 simulator with an aerodynamic model that president Ken Zimmerman called, “The best in the world.” The simulator features a 220-degree field of view that Zimmerman said gives excellent peripheral views. In addition to standard VFR and IFR training, the unit can provide the student with a number of different flight situations and mission profiles, including pedal turns, pinnacle landings, power-line inspection and even cattle herding. Zimmerman said when it came to price, “We really wanted to give something back.” The unit sells for $99,000.
