Air Methods purchased Omniflight’s Rescue Air operations in Atlanta and North Georgia and plans to consolidate the current operating bases of Air Methods and Rescue Air 1 into six locations in Covington, Gainesville, Griffin, Kennesaw, Newnan and a sixth yet-undetermined base serving the I-75 and I-575 corridors. Three of the bases will operate under Air Methods’ Emory Flight banner, although the pilots and mechanics will work for Air Methods. The other three bases will be Rescue Air facilities, with services contracted to Omniflight. Medical personnel at all six bases work for Air Methods. The six bases will operate Eurocopter AS 350s.
