January was a good month for Texas Aviation Services (Booth No. 3935), with the award of a multi-ship upgrade contract and delivery of yet another executive helicopter completion to Brazil as part of its partnership with in-country sales, customization and consulting specialist Sierra Aeronautica.

Texas Aviation won the multiple-aircraft contract from Rotorcraft Leasing Co. (RLC) to assess, evaluate and conform Bell 206 JetRangers to RLC’s requirements, “with a possibility of more within the next year.” Eleven of RLC’s fleet of 80 helicopters are already at Texas Aviation’s Fort Worth facility.

The contract calls for an upgraded avionics package to include new wiring harnesses, GPS, BlueSky satcom, FM radios, aviation radios and TFM 135 or 138 transponders. The helicopters will also be repainted and modified to include structural repair, Gulf Coast prep kits, corrosion inspection and new drive-train installations.

Texas Aviation also delivered an Agusta 109E Power executive completion to an unidentified client in São Paulo, Brazil. The 109E includes a six-passenger compartment with enhanced thermal/ acoustic sound-proofing, tinted dual windows and door-activated dome lights. The cockpit is equipped with multiple Garmin 430Ws, a GMX-200 MFD with Chartview, Skywatch HP and a redesigned instrument panel.

Referring to an economic “brown-out,” Texas Aviation president Michael Bashlor said,
“We aren’t slowing down; TAS continues to push out executive completions.”
