Latitude Technologies (Booth No. 2125) is announcing EASA certification of its SkyNode S200 satellite communication system for Eurocopter AS365 and EC155 helicopters. Airlift, Latitude’s Norwegian dealer, completed the STC and installation of the Iridium-based aircraft-tracking system last year on a Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma based near and above the Arctic Circle.

Latitude, based in Victoria, British Columbia, has also added a feature to its SkyNode two-way, data-networking and -messaging devices that functions like an emergency-locator transmitter when triggered by “G” forces beyond a certain level. The configurable six-axis accelerometer represents a “new safety feature that is extremely important to the future of aviation accident reporting and investigation,” said David Thomas, Latitude vice president for business development.
