Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS) at Berlin-Schönefeld Airport has successfully completed its first retrofit of a Bombardier Learjet 31A to meet JAR-OPS Part 1 requirements. The FAA recently suspended the repair station certificate of Weco Aerospace Systems of Burbank, Calif. Weco, acquired by Gulfstream Aerospace a year ago, was an FAA Part 145 and EASA repair station with Class 1, 2 and 3 accessory and Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 instrument ratings, supporting the corporate, helicopter, airline and military aircraft industries.
The Dee Howard Company, created in 1947 and under Chapter 11 protection since mid-February, is now San Antonio Aerospace. Sale of San Antonio International-based Dee Howard at auction was approved by Federal District Court in San Antonio in April. The winning bid came from Singapore Technologies for $14.5 million in cash and an additional $3 million to $4 million in “other considerations.” The transaction was completed on May 31.
Raytheon Aircraft Co. has signed an agreement with Central Flying Service at Little Rock (Ark.) Airport (LIT) to lease a 19,000-sq-ft hangar and office to “primarily service and maintain the Beech 1900.” Raytheon will contract for a number of special services from Central and the facility is expected to employ about 30 aircraft specialists in a 24/7 operation.
Miami-based Quiet Technology Aerospace is nearing completion of about 45 hr of planned flight testing of its first FAA-conforming Stage 3 hush kit for Gulfstream IIs and IIIs. Flight testing of a GII equipped with the company’s translating-ejector type hush kit started in late May and follows 30 hr of baseline flight testing of the aircraft without the hush kit installed.

Zimex Aviation disclosed that it has phased out of business aircraft maintenance, to focus instead on air-charter operations and executive aircraft handling at Zurich Airport. The privately owned company was founded in 1969 and embarked on business aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul with the 1986 acquisition of Limess Aviation, which was the Swiss airport’s first general aviation maintenance firm when it opened in 1955.
The National Air Transportation Association (NATA) recently purchased the Aircraft Ground Service Guide and the Aircraft Towing Guide from Sandpiper Publications. The AGSG provides aircraft fuel requirements and capacity; performance specifications; ground-power locations and requirements; tire-pressure requirements; and weights and dimensions for pistons, turboprops and jets. The ASCG also has detailed drawings of service locations.
Montreal-based Innotech-Execaire Aviation Group has moved its authorized Citation service center from a shared maintenance hangar in Montreal to a new dedicated facility at Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Raytheon Aircraft is introducing a new aircraft service plan that the company “promises will eliminate aircraft operators’ maintenance hassles.” Called Support Plus (Support +), the plan provides owners of Raytheon aircraft with selectable options covering all maintenance issues.
