Jet Aviation facilities in Geneva, Singapore, Teterboro, N.J., and West Palm Beach, Fla., have been appointed as authorized installation centers for Quiet Technology Aerospace’s hush kits in the Gulfstream II, IIB and III. The hush kits lower the aircraft’s noise signature below Stage 3 limits, weigh 234 pounds and require no modifications to the thrust reversers.

“We’re having trouble getting students. Becoming an A&P mechanic doesn’t seem to be as attractive to students coming out of high school as it used to be,” suggested Laura Hopkins, associate dean of aviation at South Seattle Community College, Seattle.
Last April the Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) brought together 11 companies to develop and refine a draft policy that the association had made public the previous month. The companies included some of the largest aerospace product and component manufacturers and independent maintenance providers in the world, including Delta Air Lines, Lufthansa Technik, Nordam Group and Pratt & Whitney.
“There are two things that we are exceptional at here at Midcoast Aviation. We build relationships with our customers and we have a very comprehensive backshop capability,” Kurt Sutterer, executive vice president of the Cahokia, Ill. company, told AIN.
Each year, representatives of the FAA’s Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) program issue five levels of training certificates– bronze, silver, gold, ruby and diamond–to eligible technicians and employers. The employer Diamond Certificate is awarded when 25 percent of each site’s eligible employees receive a minimum of six hours of training during the course of a year.
The Brazilian Departamento de Aviacao Civil (DAC) recently awarded Duncan Aviation’s Battle Creek, Mich. facility repair station certification. The certificate allows the company to work on aircraft registered in Brazil. Duncan Aviation Battle Creek also has approvals from Europe’s JAA and Venezuela. Duncan Aviation’s Lincoln, Neb., facility has approvals from Brazil, Bermuda, Venezuela, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, China and the JAA.

Thunder Aviation of Chesterfield, Mo. has received a group STC for an RVSM retrofit for Falcon 20s equipped with the Collins AP-105 autopilot. Follow-on STC amendments covering similarly equipped Falcon 10s are forthcoming, as well as amendments for Falcon 10s and 20s equipped with the SPZ 500 autopilot.
FlightSafety International has received the first certification for its Falcon 900EX EASy and 2000EX EASy maintenance technician training in a recently introduced Dassault quality-assurance program. FlightSafety instructors at Little Rock, Ark., Paris Le Bourget and Teterboro, N.J. Learning Centers received their certification from Dassault’s Dean Anderson, the company’s director of service network and maintenance training.
Bombardier Aerospace has received key approvals from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the FAA to provide complete training, service and maintenance for the Bombardier Challenger 300. Both the EASA and the FAA have awarded full Part 145 approval to Lufthansa Bombardier Aviation Services (LBAS), located at Berlin-Schoenefeld Airport.
