Reliance Aerotech, a business jet and regional airliner maintenance facility in Myrtle Beach, S.C., recently acquired the 180,000-sq-ft Flight International Services operation from Flight International Group, a charter, management and service firm in Newport News, Va. Flight International Services at Myrtle Beach will be renamed Reliance Aerotech Atlantic.
St. Louis-based Sabreliner received RVSM group certification for the Sabre 65. The approval, based on the installation and flight testing of equipment in six Sabre 65s, means customers installing the equipment won’t need trailing-cone flight tests and subsequent data reviewed by the FAA, said Sabreliner. The company said it can install the required equipment in “two to three weeks,” depending on an aircraft’s current avionics configuration.

A voice-capable, three-frequency ELT made by the UK’s HT Smith Group is now being marketed in North America by Winslow Life Raft of Lake Suzy, Fla. The 1.3-lb ELT has two-way voice transmission capability on 121 MHz and 243 MHz. The $2,975 unit also sends distress signals on 406 MHz.

A last-ditch campaign to have the FAA modify its final rule revising FAR Part 145 appears to have paid off for several aviation maintenance trade associations. The Office of Management and Budget, the last stop in the bureaucratic review process, returned the rule to the FAA for reconsideration on July 20.

The company places the global market for Blended Winglet VIP and head-of-state upgrades at some 25 Boeing 757-200s, five 767-300ERs and 25 Boeing 737 NG and Classic airframes.
Premier Aircraft, a joint venture between West Star Aviation and Yankee Pacific Aerospace, has named Midcoast Aviation as an authorized distributor for 50Dash4 performance upgrades for Falcon 50 business jets. According to Premier, demand for the upgrade is accelerating as performance guarantees have been regularly exceeded in operational use.
Innotech Aviation plans to open a new 41,000-sq-ft paint preparation and application facility this July. The paint shop, which will accommodate aircraft as large as the Bombardier Global XRS, features state-of-the-art filters, an independent waste-water cleaning system and variable-speed airflow, making it, according to Innotech, the most modern and technologically advanced hangar of its kind in North America.
