Really Quiet has doubled the warranty on its Stage 3 hush kit and thrust-reverser system for the Gulfstream II. The new warranty is two years, 1,000 hours or 500 cycles, whichever comes first. Really Quiet of Reston, Va., was the first of two companies to receive an STC for installation of hush kits on Spey-powered Gulfstreams.

WIN provides access to the entire parts inventory of Raytheon Aircraft and all its distributors and service centers. Previously, only customer-support representatives could view the parts inventory under the WIN program.
A one-time inspection is required to ensure that all installation fasteners are in place for the left and right aileron balance weights on Gulfstream Vs, in accordance with a September 26 AD (2003-18-11). Investigation of a GV that lost aileron control on final approach revealed that the outboard balance weight of the left aileron had detached and was wedged between the aileron and the rear beam of the wing.
For the second time since being adopted on Aug. 6, 2001, the compliance date of new repair-station rules will be postponed–this time to on or about January 30 next year. The original effective date of April 6 was pushed to October 3 at the request of several trade organizations, including the National Air Transportation Association.

Aviation Partners now expects to obtain an STC this month for its winglets for the Hawker 800 series. The project has been in the works for a couple of years. Failure to obtain certain OEM data and changes in FAA certification methods lengthened the STC process. According to CEO Joe Clark, “We recently started getting more assistance from Raytheon Aircraft.” Clark said a Hawker 800 with winglets will be on display at the NBAA Convention.

Honeywell will announce a new APU at the NBAA Convention this month aimed at turboprops, light jets and small helicopters. The company said the RE-50 is the first oilless and gearless APU with an integrated generator on the same shaft, and at 50 pounds it is about one-third the weight of Honeywell’s RE-150.
Executive Jet Management recently earned ISO 9001:2000 certification, making the company one of the few U.S. charter, management and maintenance companies to receive such approval. The ISO 9000 series of standards represents an international consensus on quality-management practices with the objective of ensuring that a company can “consistently achieve customer and regulatory quality requirements,” EJM said.
Promising less than an hour between the telephone call and wheels up, Gulfstream announced last month that it will fly parts and, if necessary, technicians to repair warrantied aircraft that are AOG anywhere in North America and the Caribbean if “normal commercial transportation methods” cannot be used to send technical assistance or deliver urgently needed parts.
