Embraer has introduced Tool on Time, a material solutions program that offers an inventory of more than 130 maintenance tools and ground support equipment to customers in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

NBAA more than doubled the number of exhibitors at the Maintenance Management Conference from last year, increasing the number from 27 to 63. Kevin Smith, chair of the exhibitor working group, attributed that success to hard work.
NBAA presented Greg Fink with a Technical Reward and Career Scholarship program (Tracs) scholarship for a Falcon 900EX maintenance course. “It’s a chance to go back to a more technical rather than formal school,” Fink said. “It will hopefully give me an advantage over other applicants with otherwise similar credentials.”
The 23rd annual NBAA Maintenance Management Conference, held April 15 through 18, was by any measure a significant success. The weather couldn’t have been nicer except for some unusually stiff winds that kicked up the Daytona Beach surf and made the golf outing a bit more challenging. Despite the dates’ overlapping Aviation Week’s MRO 2008 Conference and Exhibition, the turnout shattered the MMC’s best record.
Alpha Flying and sister company Atlas Aircraft Center are holding a grand opening celebration this afternoon for their new aviation complex at Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, N.H. Due to space constraints, Alpha Flying moved in 2000 from Nashua (N.H.) Airport to Manchester (N.H.) Airport, taking with it the PlaneSense fractional aircraft program under its management.
With the backlog for new business jets extending years into the future in some cases, and with used large-cabin aircraft prices soaring, several enterprises are offering an expedient alternative through executive conversions of Canadair CRJ200 regional jets. The 50-seat (in its commercial configuration) jetliner was first introduced in 1992 as a replacement for regional turboprops.
After issuing emergency orders of revocation, the FAA agreed to rescind its revocation of Tulsa, Okla.-based Southwest Aviation Specialties’ repair station certificate and the A&P certificate held by general manager David Guzman. The agency issued the emergency order of revocation on March 17 after launching the investigation in October 2006, according to Guzman.
The flight department of Greek-based construction company Consolidated Contractors International was faced with a challenge when the group’s 82-year-old chairman asked them to fit his Bombardier Challenger 601-3R with a wheelchair lift. Their boss’ arthritic knees made boarding the aircraft painful, and he was sick of the indignity of having to have the crew lift him up the steps.
