Parked proudly outside the Tailwind Capital Chalet (No. 19) here on the MEBA static display is a newly converted 2003 Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ), dubbed the Hemisphere 200XR. It is one of five CRJ200s that Tailwind acquired for the purpose of changing the former regional airliners into business jets that are nearly identical to new Challenger 850s.

The standard price of the Hemisphere 200XR is $19.5 million, while nearly new pre-owned Challenger 850s are currently showing ask prices of as much as $33 million. Here at MEBA, Tailwind is offering its airplane for a discounted price of $18.25 million.
The Hemisphere 200XR on display is configured for 15 passengers with a galley, front and aft lavatories and a PATS Aircraft auxiliary fuel system that adds almost 600 gallons and provides an operating range of some 3,000 nm. “The Hemisphere 200XR will be certified for U.S. and EASA operation and will be available for delivery in the first quarter of 2009,” said Joel Hussey, president of Tailwind Capital of Redmond, Washington
