Competitors team up on satcom services
Satcom Direct, which had been competing with Honeywell International’s OneLink, announced that it has officially signed a contract Saturday to work in cooperation with Honeywell to provide flight support and cabin communications services in a one-stop package.
Some of the service features contained within the service package include accurate flight planning information, reliable e-mail and data communications connectivity and satellite television.
Howie Lewis, vice president of Satcom Direct, said the joint effort offers aircraft operators increased flexibility in choosing services to meet their specific business requirements. In addition, by purchasing flight support and cabin communications services as a comprehensive package, operators save the time and cost of managing multiple contracts and suppliers.
The new package allows operators to buy and use specific services separately from both Honeywell (Booth No. 2000) and Satcom Direct (Booth No. 4545). Under the agreement, Satcom Direct will now handle support and account management of Honeywell’s existing cabin services, including OneLink, OneView and JetMapII.
