Emivest and Jet Works hand over their first SJ30
Jet Works Air Center has begun delivering completed SJ30 light jets for Dubai-based Emivest, an 80-percent share holder in the former manufacturer, Sino Swearingen.
The first SJ30 completion was done at Jet Works by an Emivest team with the assistance of Jet Works technicians. Optional equipment was installed and certified by Jet Works, which was also responsible for application of the exterior paint.
The Denton, Texas-based independent completion and refurbish- ment center (Booth No. 1289) and the Emivest team turned over their first SJ30 cabin completion in mid-September. The new owner, Harry Mohney of Deja Vu Consulting, took possession on September 23.
The interior is configured for five passengers and is equipped with SelCal HF radio, dual mode-S (with enhanced surveillance) transponders, Honeywell Primus Epic CDS avionics suite with single internal NZ-2000 FMS, the RosenView VX moving map, a CD/DVD player with two seven-inch monitors, Alto Aviation speakers, wireless controls and five wireless headsets.
Emivest (Emirates Investment and Development Co.) became an 80-percent holder of former Sino Swearingen in June when it agreed to pump a minimum of $150 million into the San Antonio SJ30 manufacturing center to restart production. Mohney’s $7.25 million light jet received its FAA airworthiness certificate on September 3.
The second Emivest SJ30 made its first flight August 27 and is already in Denton, where the interior is being outfitted by Emivest and Jet Works. The airplane will go to Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman. Freeman received his private pilot license in 2002, and is now instrument and multi-engine rated. He expects to become type rated in his new SJ30, scheduled for delivery in about two weeks. Freeman’s aircraft interior will be outfitted similar to that of the Mohney SJ30.
Jet Works is the exclusive North American completion center for the Italian-built Piaggio Avanti II, including those destined for fractional provider Avantair of Clearwater, Fla.
