Unitron LP, which has been designing, manufacturing, marketing solid-state frequency converters (all-electric ground power units–GPUs) since 1960 when it was first started as a prime contractor for the Defense Department, has entered into a worldwide distribution agreement with Aviall Services for the sale of its all-electric environmentally “green” 28-VDC and 400-Hz mobile and towable GPUs and its onboard solid-state frequency converters (SSFCs).

Because Aviall serves both the business aircraft and regional aircraft markets, it has chosen to kick off its marketing efforts of the Unitron GPUs and onboard SSFCs by providing information about these products at its booth (No. 2646). Unitron’s (Booth No. 1796) product manager is at the Aviall booth to assist in answering questions about its product line.

The Unitron mobile GPUs operate from any specified power source and provide both single and dual outputs having a 400-Hz power rating starting at 15 kVA and continuing upward through 90 kVA. Combination GPUs providing both a 400-Hz power source and a 28.5-VDC power source will operate any aircraft in the world requiring these voltages, making the combination GPU useful for FBOs servicing both 400-Hz and 28.5-VDC aircraft, according to the company.
