Townsend Leather of Johnstown, N.Y., is featuring the new Townsend pattern-cutting system this year at its booth (No. 4841). The automated, high-speed leather cutter detects the perimeter of the hide it is cutting and is designed to increase cutting yield and overall productivity. “With the economic downturn that has shaken the industry in the past year, more of our customers are asking us for ways to help them be more cost-effective in their leather buying and help eliminate waste, overage and scrap, as well as reduce shipping and handling expenses,” said Townsend president Terry Kucel.
