Air Bound Aviation, the lone FBO at New Jersey’s Essex County Airport, has added a newly-renovated hangar to meet its customer’s needs. The 17,000-sq-ft structure, which until last year was part of the former Avantair FBO, recently completed a more than $1 million reconstruction project, including a new roof, hangar door and heating and cooling systems.
The hangar, which can accommodate aircraft up to the size of a Gulfstream IV, also received new insulation and paint, and the 12,000 sq ft of usable hangar floor space was refinished. This addition increases Air Bound’s hangar space to 50,000 sq ft.
The FBO hopes to use the restored hangar to attract more turbine aircraft tenants to the airport, which is located just 20 miles west of Manhattan in Caldwell, N.J., and features a 4,552-foot main runway.
