Flight-support provider Universal Weather & Aviation added two new ways for its subscribers to access its flight-planning products, the company announced yesterday at the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Universal Flight Scheduling Software, the company’s new web-based solution, provides remote access from any web-enabled device and allows customers the same preflight, post-flight, database and reporting functionality that they would get from a desktop computer. “Feedback from our customers and scheduling software users indicated a need for a flight-scheduling software solution that provided full functionality, with complete remote access via mobile devices and tablets without the requirement to install software,” said Randy Stephens, Universal’s division vice president for product management. Since the new system is totally web-based, information on airports, ground handlers and times zones is updated automatically.
The Houston-based company also launched Universal Mobile, a new iPad application that features a suite of flight-support tools. “Our clients are demanding real-time updates and integration among all services, from scheduling software to trip support, fuel, flight planning and more,” said Stephens. “They don’t want to have to switch back and forth between multiple applications or companies for different services.” The new app includes iPad access to many core functionalities, including flight planning via UVflightplanner.com, UVair fuel pricing, trip status, Ops brief and the aforementioned Universal Flight Scheduling Software. Universal Mobile is a free app that is available at the Apple App Store.
