Thales To Provide 787 Training
Boeing’s Alteon Training subsidiary has awarded a contract to Thales for 787 Dreamliner training equipment. The contracts call for Thales to install six suites of training equipment at key locations in the Alteon network of training centers, with first delivery scheduled for 2007. Each suite consists of a level-D type full-flight simulator, two brief/debrief stations, a virtual flight training device and classroom equipment for flight and maintenance training. The Thales full-flight simulators will be the first devices for the 787 and the first to be equipped with Thales’ new motion system. The flexible classroom equipment will support multiple training tasks on the same hardware and will include distance learning capabilities. Thales, which maintains synthetic training production facilities in the U.S., UK, France, Germany and Australia, will also provide a simulator to help with Boeing’s engineering development on the 787 program. Alteon will serve as Boeing’s sole provider of 787 training, working in partnership with 787 program leaders to develop courseware and curricula.
