Air Nostrum boosts Bombardier with new deal for CRJ1000s
Bombardier Aerospace yesterday announced a new firm order for 15 CRJ1000s from Spanish regional carrier Air Nostrum. The Valencia-based Iberia Regional partner has now placed firm orders for a total of 35 CRJ1000s and has revealed itself as the previously unidentified launch customer for the 100-seat-class jet.
The new firm order for 15 airplanes previously appeared in Bombardier’s books as a conditional order from an unidentified customer, originally announced on Feb. 19, 2007. The manufacturer plans to deliver the 15 aircraft from 2014 through 2016.
Air Nostrum has also opted to convert delivery positions on its final five CRJ900s to firm slots for CRJ1000 NextGen jets. Bombardier has already delivered 11 of the 16 airplanes originally specified in the 2004 order.
Based on the list price for the CRJ1000 NextGen, the value of the new firm order for 15 airplanes totals $793 million. The total value of Air Nostrum’s orders for 35 CRJ1000 NextGen aircraft amounts to some $1.75 billion.
