After purchasing Landmark Aviation and Standard Aero from The Carlyle Group on August 1, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) announced that it is selling a division of Landmark Aviation now called the Airport Services Group and retaining the maintenance-focused portions of Landmark, including executive aircraft completions business Associated Air Center as well as turbine overhauler Standard Aero.

Jean-Paul Herteman has been named chairman and CEO of the Safran supervisory board. He succeeds Jean-Paul Béchat, whose term expired on September 2. In addition, Jean-Paul Ebanga is replacing Michel Dechelotte as chairman and CEO of PowerJet, a subsidiary of Safran’s Snecma.
The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) announced yesterday that FAA Administrator Marion Blakey will become the trade group’s president and CEO when she leaves the FAA at the end of her five-year term on September 13. She will step into that role on November 12. She will succeed current AIA president and CEO John Douglass, who announced his retirement several months ago.
VLJ and piston-twin manufacturer Adam Aircraft experienced a shift at the top yesterday, as former Fairchild Aerospace COO and McDonnell Douglas executive v-p John Wolf replaced founder Rick Adam as chairman and CEO. Wolf joined Adam Aircraft in February and has since served on the board as a liaison. Duncan Koerbel, who also joined the company in February, remains president.
Bill Brown, Hawker Beech-craft’s new president for global customer support, has all the right credentials for his new job, which he started at the end of May. Brown took over the job from Randy Groom, who “recently made the decision to take some time with his family and explore new career opportunities for the future,” according to Hawker Beechcraft.
Ronald Zilberbrand resigned from Chicago-based JSSI International, the company that he co-founded. He was president of the company and executive v-p of 154 West Holdings, a holding company with direct ownership of JSSI. He has resigned to pursue other interests. JSSI CEO Rick Haskins is assuming the role of JSSI International president until a successor is named.
Jack Pelton, chairman, president and CEO of Cessna Aircraft, and John Rosanvallon, president and CEO of Dassault Falcon, have been elected to the board of Corporate Angel Network, the nonprofit that arranges free flights for cancer patients using empty seats on business aircraft. Dassault Falcon also announced the promotion of Jeff Habib to senior vice president of U.S. sales.
John Goglia, the only licensed A&P mechanic to receive a presidential appointment to the NTSB, has joined the leadership of the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association as senior vice president of government and technical programs. Goglia leaves the NTSB after nine years of service. He will now spearhead PAMA’s efforts to increase public recognition and respect for aviation maintenance technicians.
Even those business aviation operators who may never want to fly into Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport should be able to take advantage of NBAA’s “secure access” program. That’s because gaining entry into DCA is but one facet of the still-developing proposal.
Stephen Pope (right), AIN’s avionics editor and editor of our domestic show editions, won big at this year’s Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards, presented during the Paris Air Show last month. Pope won the Rockwell Collins Award for the best avionics submission with his article on synthetic vision in the June 2006 issue of AIN. He also came away with the Gulfstream Award for Aerospace Journalist of the Year.
