Giuseppe Airaudi, 52, and his passenger died in the crash of an Agusta Bell AB412 on November 27 in the Italian Alps. Airaudi cofounded Turin-based Airgreen with his brother Mauro in the early 1980s. Airgreen now operates 15 helicopters for rescue, aerial work and transport to mountain shelters.

Former AOPA and Air Transport Association official Roger Cohen replaced Debby McElroy last month as the president of the Regional Airline Association (RAA). Cohen assumed the post on December 18, three days after McElroy left for a new position at Airports Council International-North America.

Both Boeing and Airbus have come to the Paris Air Show without permanent leaders. EADS has missed its target of June 1 to find a successor for Nöel Forgeard at Airbus and to complete its own management restructuring. Forgeard in effect still acts as CEO of Airbus while serving alongside Thomas Enders as co-chief executives of EADS.

The Nordam Group’s board of directors has voted to extend Ken Lackey’s term as chairman and CEO through 2008. He has assumed the additional responsibilities of COO of the manufacturing divisions. John Uczekaj, Nordam’s president and COO, has left the company to pursue other interests. Bill Peacher, Nordam’s CFO, will also serve as COO of the Nordam Repair Group.

Flying the Korean Aerospace International (KAI)/Lockheed Martin T-50 Golden Eagle supersonic jet trainer here at Dubai is Lt. Col. Choong Hwan Lee of the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF). Lee is an experienced fighter pilot with more than 2,000 hours in LM’s signature product, the F-16 Fighting Falcon. He has a long line of experience in the Northrop F-5 and KAI’s previous trainer design, the KT-1.

While safety is at the top of her list of priorities, new Transportation Secretary Mary Peters told the third annual FAA International Aviation Safety Forum early last month that President Bush has charged her with modernizing the U.S. ATC system, “including new approaches to funding to deal with our aging infrastructure.”

The Regional Airline Association launched a search for a new president last month after Debby McElroy accepted the position of senior vice president of government affairs with Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA). McElroy will assume her new role with the K Street organization on December 19, giving the RAA a month-and-a-half to find a replacement.
