Flexjet appointed Jason Weiss as its new vice president of operations. In his new role, he is responsible for managing the fractional operator’s flight operations, training, technical operations, operations analysis and fleet management, the owner operations center and procurement. Weiss–who replaces David Gross, who is retiring from Flexjet after 13 years–comes from NetJets, where he was the vice president of crew resource planning.

Peg Billson, formerly president of BBA Aviation Legacy Support, has been promoted to president and CEO of the company’s recently organized BBA Aviation Aftermarket Services division. The aftermarket services division includes subsidiaries Ontic, Dallas Airmotive, Premier Turbines, H+S Aviation, International Turbine Service, W.H. Barrett Turbine Engine Company, International Governor Services and APPH. The company’s Dallas Airmotive subsidiary has announced a restructuring of its U.S. sales organization.

The annual Salute to Excellence Awards dinner, held on Wednesday, March 6, was, for the 50th year, the premier evening event of Heli-Expo. HAI encourages the highest standards of professionalism in the helicopter industry, saluting those who deserve to be recognized for their contributions to the rotorcraft community. This year, Helicopter Association International’s Salute to Excellence Awards recognized the achievements and merits of a few individuals and organizations among its more than 3,000 members.

The Paris-based company has offices on six continents and is currently offering 11 helicopters for sale.

As such Reid will oversee and grow the marketing efforts of American Eurocopter’s customer support and service division, which focuses on the aftermarket segment. Stan Wilson has been promoted to president of Columbia Helicopters (Booth No. C811). A member of the Columbia team since 1986, Wilson was vice president of finance for the past 13 years. The move has long been planned, according to Columbia. “Our company’s current global economic outlook has finally offered us the opportunity to implement some changes we have been planning for some time,” said former president and CEO Mike Fahey, who will remain as CEO.

Heli-Mart’s venerable president and founder Don Nichols is stepping down from the company after 40 years. The announcement came March 4, during Heli-Expo ‘13. Heli-Mart (Booth No. C5111), located at the Orange County Airport in Costa Mesa, Calif., is a worldwide helicopter parts distributor and MD Helicopter authorized service center, with a special emphasis on AOG services.

Nichols said, “It’s tough to quit something you’ve been doing well, and happily, for 50 years. I am confident I’ve left Heli-Mart in good hands with Ed Brown.”
