Boeing P-8A

Boeing has expanded on its proposal to replace the U.S. Air Force E-8 Joint STARS air-ground surveillance aircraft (AGS) with a version of the P-8 Poseidon. The Air Force is planning to re-engine and upgrade the E-8 fleet.

M346 Italian AF

The Italian Air Force accepted the first of six Alenia Aermacchi M346 advanced jet trainers. A second aircraft will follow shortly, and the pair will be flight-tested further by the air force at Pratica di Mare airbase.

Lockheed Martin’s Vigilance

Lockheed Martin UK Integrated Systems has unveiled a self-contained sensor pod that can be fitted easily to helicopters and airlifters to convert them for a variety of airborne surveillance missions. At the core of the package, which Lockheed Martin has named Vigilance, is an adaptation of Northrop Grumman’s fighter-size APG-80/81 AESA radar series.

The French will buy 14 A330MRTTs to pool in a common fleet

The French Air Force will sign a contract for between five and seven A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transports in 2013, with quick deliveries foreseen, according to its commander General Jean-Paul Palomeros. Budget difficulties thwarted earlier French attempts to procure a new tanker.
