Used business jet prices saw their strongest month-over-month gain in more than a year last month, according to J.P. Morgan’s North America Equity Research. Statistics released yesterday in the company’s April Business Jet Monthly report show the used business jet market showed a 1.9-percent rise, only the second sequential increase since the start of last year and a trend the company views as an indicator that stronger new jet demand is approaching.

The FAA announced on Tuesday that the ADS-B network in the U.S. has been completed, with all 634 ground stations now online. “This upgrade is an important step in laying the foundation for the NextGen system, which provides air traffic controllers a much more precise view of the airspace, gives pilots much more awareness and information, and as a result strengthens the safety and efficiency of our system,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx. “This state-of-the-art satellite system is already providing controllers with visibility in places not previously covered by radar.”
Kansas City, Mo.-based fractional provider Executive AirShare saw its customer count rise last year by 50, to 185, a 37-percent increase. According to president and CEO Keith Plumb, the regional fractional provider–which serves shareowners in Kansas City; Wichita; Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Okla.; Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio, Texas; and Buffalo, N.Y–has “recorded four consecutive years of double-digit growth, achieved profitability and established a reputation for delivering the highest quality service.”
Deer Jet, which owns four of the six FBOs currently in operation on the Chinese mainland, expects to at least double that number by year-end, company vice president Peng Zhang announced this week at ABACE 2014 in Shanghai.
“We are talking with several different airport authorities that want to cooperate with Deer Jet to have an FBO facility on their field,” Zhang told AIN. This includes Beijing Capital Airport, where the company is awaiting permission to begin operations from a facility that was last used for the 2008 Olympics and would be the second FBO on the airport.
India’s Invision Air has abandoned plans to build a wholly owned fleet of Embraer Phenom light jets, switching its business model to one based largely on aircraft management and a scheme to provide flights connecting smaller cities within the state of Maharashta. The Mumbai-based group originally intended to buy six Phenom 300s and six Phenom 100s.
Embraer delivered 20 business jets during the first quarter of this year, compared with just 12 during the same period a year earlier. The 66-percent increase in deliveries in the company’s executive jet business accompanied an increase in its overall, firm-order backlog to $19.2 billion from $18.2 billion during the quarter, driven mainly by a firm order for 50 E2 E-Jets to India’s Air Costa during the Singapore Airshow in February.
Jetex Flight Support set up a new handling facility at Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport in the Philippines. The Dubai-based group will provide support services for private jet operators in Manila, and will be able to supervise ground handling at other Filipino airports. The new facility features a lounge, and Jetex staff can assist crews with any local arrangements. The company provides credit terms and facilitates applications for overflight and landing permits, as well as all aspects of ground handling.

Requests for charter flight price quotes, a bellwether of business aviation activity, have been growing in China by more than 20 percent annually over the past three years, according to data released this week at ABACE 2014 by Avinode. Quote requests for flights to and from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan grew from 9,701 in 2011 to 11,684 in 2012 (up around 20.5 percent), and to 14,369 last year (up around 23 percent).
Dubai-based UAS International Trip Support said this week at ABACE 2014 that it is enhancing its aircraft handling services to bridge a trip-support gap between China and Africa. UAS already has a strong presence in China, handling 25 to 50 operations per day into and out of the country. It plans to open a regional office in China next year in response to the strengthening economic ties between what are said to be the two fastest growing business jet markets, China and Africa, the latter linked primarily to the growth of business aviation activity in Nigeria.
