A group of former JetBlue executives this week launched an operation designed around the Embraer Phenom 100. The company, JetSuite, placed a firm order for 50 of the very light jets with options for 50 more, and it plans to lease the aircraft to customers. First deliveries are expected in April next year.

Sales of Gulfstream business jets in the first quarter increased 17 percent year-over-year, Nicholas Chabraja, chairman and CEO of parent company General Dynamics, said yesterday during an investor conference call. According to Chabraja, backlog at the Savannah, Ga. aircraft manufacturer climbed $200 million in the quarter, and that includes only sales of in-production aircraft.
According to several newspaper reports, European aerospace consortium EADS is close to selling its Tarbes, France-based Socata division to Daher, an aerospace, defense, nuclear and automotive group headquartered in Wissous, France. An industry source close to the deal told AIN that Daher has completed the due diligence process, with the sale apparently hinging on Airbus awarding a contract for A350 work to Socata.
