Embraer’s second Phenom 300 light jet joined the flight-test fleet on Tuesday, making its first flight from the runway at the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer’s Gavião Peixoto plant. Flying aboard PP-XVJ on its maiden jaunt were pilots Jeirgem Prust and John Sevalho Corção and flight-test engineer Leandro Bigarella. “The Phenom 300 program is steadily moving forward.

On-demand air-taxi firm SATSair on Tuesday signed a letter of intent with Cirrus Design to add five Cirrus Vision SJ50 jet singles to its fleet. SATSair, which currently operates 26 Cirrus SR22s, will integrate the single-engine jets into its operations–following the SJ50’s expected certification in 2010–as a hybrid to its Southeastern whole-airplane charter network.

Sentient Flight Group on Tuesday announced organizational changes as part of a refocusing of its long-term business plan. “When Sentient and JetDirect first came together, we established a fully integrated personal air travel company, offering jet cards, charter and complete aircraft management services,” Sentient chairman Greg Campbell said.

ExecuJet Aviation and Hawker Pacific today officially opened their new joint-venture Skypark FBO at Kuala Lumpur Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Malaysia. The development is part of the wider $91 billion Skypark Subang project to transform the former Subang International Airport–Kuala Lumpur’s main airport until the opening of Kuala Lumpur International Airport in 1998–into a business aviation gateway.

Shipments and billings for business aviation jets and turboprops reached all-time highs in the second quarter, according to data released this afternoon by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), while the piston market took a dive.
