Cessna Aircraft has selected the AirCell Axxess satcom system as a factory option on the Citation X, Sovereign and XLS. Axxess, introduced at the NBAA Convention last month, is a multi-channel, wireless broadband-ready satcom system designed for midsize to large business jets. The standard Axxess system includes two Iridium satellite communications channels for voice and narrowband data services. Two more channels are available as an option.

In a November 22 letter to the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), the Transportation Security Administration said it has “begun the process of developing and instituting a security oversight and monitoring program for fractional ownership aircraft.
Following up on a tentative agreement reached nearly nine months ago, Raytheon Aircraft and NetJets signed a contract for the purchase of 50 Hawker 4000s (née Horizons) for the latter company’s fractional fleet. In addition, there is a separate 10-year guaranteed maintenance program. Raytheon Aircraft said the combined total value of these contracts will exceed $1 billion, the largest single commercial order in the company’s history.
The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) will go forward with a modified version of its previously announced proposal to remove its flight information publications (FLIP) and digital aeronautical flight information file (DAFIF) from public access.
Facing a major challenge for control of the company, Phoenix-based health and security assistance provider MedAire has rejected a demand from “certain shareholders” to replace its current four-member board of directors with six new individuals, “four of whom are employees of MedAire’s competitor International SOS [based in Singapore].” According to a MedAire spokesman, the demand came in a letter presented to MedAire on November 28 by lawyers
