Speaking at the National Air Transportation Association's FBO Leadership Conference this week in Savannah, Ga., Transportation Security Administration general aviation manager Brian Delauter told attendees that he hopes the new iteration of the Large Aircraft Security Program (Lasp) will be ready for release within the next 60 days.

Gulfstream G650 S/N 6004 recently demonstrated the modelπs high-speed cruising capabilities, flying more than 1,900 nm in 3 hours and 26 minutes. While the aircraft averaged an impressive groundspeed of 550 knots on the coast-to-coast flight, it wasn't a civil record–in February 2003 Steve Fossett flew his Cessna Citation X from San Diego to Charleston, S.C., in 2 hours 56 minutes, averaging almost 632 knots thanks to a strong tailwind.

Despite efforts to reduce federal government spending to 2008 levels, general aviation groups told Congress yesterday it is "critical" that the next FAA reauthorization bill provide sufficient funding for FAA programs designed to advance the NextGen air traffic management system.

Canadaπs Transportation Safety Board (TSB) yesterday issued its final report on the fatal accident of a Cougar Helicopters Sikorsky S-92A off Newfoundland that killed 17 on March 12, 2009. The helicopter crashed while attempting to ditch after its main gearbox lubrication system failed due to two cracked oil filter bowl mounting studs.
