In just two years, Embraer has moved from a minor player in the business jet market–garnering only 3 percent of market share by volume in 2008–to one that now corners almost one-fifth of deliveries in this segment, with 19 percent. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer told AIN last year that it is seeking at least 30 percent of the business jet market in terms of volume.

Hawker Beechcraft today announced the opening of a new $20 million facility in Chihuahua City, Mexico, where it will for the most part increase sheet-metal fabrication for King Airs and Hawkers. According to Hawker Beechcraft CEO Bill Boisture, the 180,000-sq-ft building is one of two at the Chihuahua site, where a third will be added later this year.
This year’s NBAA Convention–to be held October 10 to 12 in Las Vegas–will have not one but two static display areas, marking a first in the 64-year history of this event. The new outdoor static display area will be “just a few steps away from the convention center,” said NBAA vice president of exhibits Linda Peters.
Operators and service centers of Honeywell TPE331-powered aircraft are reporting lengthy delays for delivery of engine parts. “We’re running out of overhauled engines and rentals,” said one company representative involved with TPE331-powered aircraft. According to the FAA, the parts production delays are not because of quality issues.
