Swiss-based Jet Aviation Group expanded its U.S. footprint late last week with the acquisition of maintenance and cabin completion and refurbishment specialist Savannah Air Center. The deal adds some 280,000 sq ft of space at Savannah Air to the more than 650,000 sq ft at Jet Aviation’s Midcoast Aviation subsidiary in East Cahokia, Ill.

London Executive Aviation (LEA) officially unveiled the first of the 10 Cessna Citation Mustangs it has on order during a ceremony at Farnborough Airport on Thursday. The UK company is now preparing to begin charter operations with the four-passenger aircraft around February 18. According to LEA CEO Patrick Margetson-Rushmore, the charter firm will be able to operate the Mustang for about 25 to 30 percent less than the Citation Bravo.

France-based engine manufacturer Snecma has reported “positive results” for the first 35 ground test hours of its Silvercrest core engine. In an unusual move, the company has begun the test program without announcing a launch application for the new turbofan, which is targeted for applications on future super-midsize to large business jets. The core engine achieved “all the expected performance objectives” for these combustion trials.

The NTSB on Friday blamed Metro Aviation pilot Vince Kirol, 59, for the crash of a Mercy Flight King Air 200 near Bozeman, Mont., last February 6, saying he failed to maintain adequate altitude while descending for landing at Gallatin Field Airport (BZN) on a dark, overcast night.
