An upgraded EADS Socata TBM 850 turboprop single was unveiled late last week during a “discovery show” held at the company’s factory in Tarbes, France. The latest version of the six-seat airplane includes an integrated glass flight deck based on the Garmin G1000 system, an update that was announced at the NBAA Convention in September, as well as other improvements.

The FAA on Friday issued a request for comments on special conditions that would apply to Embraer’s Phenom 100 VLJ to cover “novel or unusual design feature(s) associated with aft-mounted engine fire protection.” In the request, the FAA included information about the Phenom 100’s maximum takeoff weight, one of the specifications for the jet that Embraer has not revealed publicly thus far.

Eurocopter, at a news conference in Paris today, disclosed its results for last year, saying it achieved an all-time high in sales that surpasses those for 2006, which were tops until now. The French-German helicopter manufacturer recorded 802 orders worth $9.5 billion (€6.58 billion) last year, and the backlog now stands at a record $20 billion (€13.5 billion).
