Cirrus Design, the Duluth, Minn. manufacturer of SR20 and SR22 piston singles, does have a jet in its future plans, but don’t expect to hear much about it before the end of this year. When (and if) you do, it may well be that the design will wind up with a single engine.

Responding to a story in last Thursday’s AINalerts about operational control in Part 91 operations, NBAA said some key points need clarification.
The crash of a Piper Navajo Chieftain in Kodiak, Alaska, on Saturday might have been precipitated by the unexpected opening of a nose baggage door just after takeoff from Kodiak Airport, the NTSB said. According to an FAA preliminary report, the pilot and five passengers were killed and four more were injured when the 10-seat piston twin operated by charter firm Servant Air crashed off the end of the runway into the water.

On Friday, Sentient Jet Holdings completed its acquisition of Van Nuys, Calif.-based charter/management firm The Air Group. The purchase of the Southern California business occurred before Sentient finalized its acquisition of TAG Aviation USA, which is said to be imminent.
