The FAA’s Small Aircraft Directorate in Kansas City is expected to deliver to the FAA Administrator next month a preliminary report on recommended updates to Part 23 certification regulations, according to the National Air Transportation Association (NATA).

British Airways announced it is taking over France-based L’Avion, the last remaining all-business-class carrier on a transatlantic route. The 18-month-old startup airline will be merged with BA subsidiary OpenSkies. The two operators have been code-sharing for less than one month between Paris Orly and New York. OpenSkies and L’Avion use JFK and Newark Airports, respectively.
The European Parliament on Tuesday voted on a detailed plan to include aviation in the EU’s emissions trading system (ETS), a carbon dioxide cap-and-trade system that has been in place since 2005 for ground-based facilities such as coal-fired power plants. Final approval of the text in the EU lawmaking machinery is expected by year-end.
Business jet accidents in the first six months of this year remained the same as during the first half of last year, while the turboprop segment saw a significant increase, according to statistics released by Robert E. Breiling Associates. Part 135 jet operations improved, with 10 accidents in the first half of last year shrinking to four thus far this year.
