Rocket Engineering of Spokane, Wash.–the company involved in the Piper Malibu JetProp DLX Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A conversion–is at it again. This time Rocket has been quietly working for the past two years on a P&WC PT6A-35-powered Beechcraft Duke BE60 conversion.

NBAA and the National Air Transportation Association submitted comments critical of the FAA's proposed rule to modify recording, sampling and installation requirements for cockpit video recorders (CVRs) and flight data recorders (FDRs). The comments were submitted just before the deadline last week.

Strong revenue growth has led Delta AirElite, the business aircraft charter division of  Delta Air Lines, to introduce a revenue guarantee for aircraft owners who are accepted for enrollment in the company’s aircraft-management program. The company is offering new management clients flight hour guarantees ranging from 200 to 500 hours annually for select aircraft.

Although the final outcome is yet unclear, the House of Representatives amended its $14.4 billion FAA appropriations bill last week to halt an FAA plan to turn over the operation of its Flight Service Stations to a private contractor. The amendment voids the February contract with Lockheed Martin, whereby 38 of the current 61 FSS facilities would be closed and 20 of the remaining 23 would be operated by the aerospace giant.

All jet and transport-category airplanes (those with an mtow of 12,500 pounds or more) for which application of a new type design is submitted on or after Jan. 1, 2006, will have to meet new noise certification levels. The FAA today issued its final FAR Part 36 Stage 4 noise levels that were originally proposed in December 2003.
