EADS Socata, the France-based manufacturer of the TBM 850 turboprop single, today tried to clarify the status of its negotiations with a number of potential partners for the development of another business aircraft. Speaking to AIN, a spokesman essentially denied the content of a story published Sunday in the India Times, which reported that UB Group’s Vijay Mallya was ready to invest $200 million in the development of a Socata jet.

The business jet industry “remains strong,” according to newly appointed Bombardier president and CEO Pierre Beaudoin, who released first quarter financial results during an investors conference call yesterday. Revenues for Bombardier Aerospace increased 5 percent, from $2.26 billion in the first fiscal quarter last year to $2.38 billion in the same period this year.

Amid much fanfare, the 200th Gulfstream G200 rolled out yesterday at Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) manufacturing plant at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv. “This is a historic moment for Gulfstream and IAI,” said Gulfstream Aerospace president Joe Lombardo.

Alpha Flying and sister company Atlas Aircraft Center are holding a grand opening celebration this afternoon for their new aviation complex at Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, N.H. Due to space constraints, Alpha Flying moved in 2000 from Nashua (N.H.) Airport to Manchester (N.H.) Airport, taking with it the PlaneSense fractional aircraft program under its management.

Dubai-based Emirates Investment & Development (Emivest) yesterday obtained U.S. approval to acquire an 80-percent stake from the Taiwanese government in San Antonio-based Sino Swearingen Aircraft. According to a Emivest spokesman, the deal to buy the manufacturer of the SJ30 light jet will formally close in the next few days.
