An analysis of 56 airports’ operational capacities has concluded that the FAA must “move forward aggressively” to implement the NextGen system or risk further delays at 27 major airports. The Future Airport Capacity Task (Fact) report also found that 15 metro areas will have to make use of smaller, regional airports, such as Teterboro Airport in New Jersey and Stewart International in New Windsor, N.Y., to avoid increasing congestion.

Cockpit voice recordings from the Embraer Legacy that collided with the Gol Airlines 737 over the Amazon last September indicate that the two business-jet pilots were very much aware of their position and altitude, despite earlier reports to the contrary. The transcript shows the Legacy crew checked in at their assigned altitude of FL370 at 1850Z.

Dassault revealed a new Falcon 2000 with winglets at EBACE in Geneva yesterday. The new 2000LX, which is based on the company’s popular 2000EX, will provide 200 nm more range than its sibling. According to Aviation Partners chairman and CEO Joe Clark, whose company will be providing the blended winglets, the aircraft will be able to fly 4,000 nm at Mach 0.80 at 41,000 feet.
