Dassault received EASA certification for its Falcon 2000LX on April 23, followed by FAA certification seven days later. Initially slated for certification more than one year ago, the 2000LX is a winglet-equipped version of the 2000EX. According to the French manufacturer, the winglets cut drag by 5 percent and boost range at Mach 0.80 to 4,000 nm from 3,800 nm. The first customer 2000LX was delivered early last month.

The Senate on Thursday night confirmed former Air Line Pilots Association president Randy Babbitt as the next FAA Administrator for a five-year term. During his nomination hearing, several senators referenced the February 12 crash of Continental Connection Flight 3407 near Buffalo, N.Y., and asked him about fatigue and crew training for regional airline pilots.
The crash of a Beechcraft King Air 350 on approach to a private airfield near the beach resort of Trancoso in northeast Brazil on Friday killed the airplane’s owner, banker Roger Wright, and 10 members of his family, as well as both pilots and a nanny. The airplane went down in dense jungle about 500 feet to one side of the runway around 9 p.m.

On Thursday, the board of the U.S. Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) authorized a $500 million direct-loan facility to provide the funds to assist Textron in financing exports from subsidiaries Cessna Aircraft and Bell Helicopter. The available capital will enable Textron to continue to provide financing to international customers that take delivery of new Cessna and Bell aircraft by December next year.
The long-awaited auction of the assets of bankrupt Eclipse Aviation could occur on June 24, according to Mike Press, owner of Eclipse 500 S/N 004 and president and CEO of Single Pilot Jet Management. Press and Eclipse depositor Mason Holland have formed a company, now named Eclipse Aerospace, to bid on the Eclipse assets.
