Bombardier Aerospace is “satisfied” that confidential customer data has not been compromised, following the discovery by Canadian authorities of company documents in the home of former senior director of structured finance Simon Davies. In an unusual move, the Quebec Supreme Court signed an Anton Peller court order, which allowed authorities to search Davies’ home and seize evidence without prior notice.

Comments are due today on an FAA draft letter of interpretation released April 3 on the meaning of the term “known icing conditions.” At press time, 82 comments had been filed, mainly by individuals.

The first Cessna Citation Encore+ was delivered last week, nearly five months after receiving FAA type certification. The company expects to deliver another 24 by year-end, although it won’t divulge the number of airplanes ordered thus far. The $8.1 million business jet seats between seven and 11 passengers and is equipped with FADEC Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) PW535B engines, the newest member of P&WC’s PW500 line.

Reacting to last September’s fatal collision of an Embraer Legacy and Boeing 737 over the Amazon jungle, the NTSB yesterday called for improved certification standards for traffic alert and collision avoidance systems (TCAS). The Safety Board wants pilots to receive clearer warning messages when the TCAS has stopped functioning.

Sen. John Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), chairman of the Senate aviation subcommittee, and ranking member Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) are expected to introduce an FAA reauthorization bill this week to counter one the Bush Administration released in February.
