Eclipse Aviation has placed a second Eclipse 500 very light jet, S/N 082, on the auction block. The online eBay auction began yesterday at 11 a.m. EST and will conclude at 8 p.m. on November 29. Bidding began at 95 percent of the aircraft’s retail value of $1,844,804.30, and bidders must pre-qualify with a $5,000 refundable deposit. The aircraft will be ready for customer delivery early next month.

Garmin last week received FAA STC approval to install G1000 avionics retrofits in the Hawker Beechcraft King Air C90A/GT. The installation results in a weight saving of approximately 100 pounds. Notably, this is Garmin’s first G1000 retrofit STC, and it paves the way for future G1000 retrofit installations such as the King Air 200 and B200, a program Garmin announced in September at the NBAA Convention.

In its first-quarter FY2008 report issued late last week, Clearwater, Fla.-based fractional provider Avantair said revenues increased by 52.9 percent, to $25.7 million, year-over-year, but its quarterly net loss increased to $4.8 million from $3.8 million a year ago.

Less than a month after acquiring Marathon Flight Services at Kissimmee (Fla.) Gateway Airport and Carolina Air Center in Hilton Head, S.C., Signature Flight Support this week bought Regent Aviation’s FBOs at St. Paul Downtown and Rochester International Airports in Minnesota.

The FAA has issued an advisory circular for pilots and operators of turbine-powered airplanes to identify, understand and mitigate risks associated with runway overruns during landing.
