A bankruptcy judge declined to sign an order yesterday allowing Hawker Beechcraft to expedite the sale of approximately 13 new, three in-production and four used Hawker 4000 business jets. On November 16, the company had asked for court authorization of the sale “for the best price possible under the circumstances, on an ‘as-is-where-is’ basis, with no warranty or support commitments.”

The first Bombardier Learjet 85 wing shipment arrived yesterday at the company’s Wichita assembly line and is now in the process of being readied for mating to the composite fuselage of flight test vehicle one (FTV1).
Dassault Falcon has established a wholly owned foreign company, Dassault Falcon Business Services (Beijing) Co., in China to represent its business jet brand in the growing market. Jean Michel Jacob has been named as general manager of the subsidiary and John Rosanvallon is its chairman.
Jeppesen recently released Mobile FliteDeck version 2.0 for the iPad, including the recently introduced fourth-generation iPad and iPad mini. In addition, it rolled out flexible pricing options for four U.S.-based JeppView data subscriptions based on two or four device installs. A JeppView data subscription is necessary to use Mobile FliteDeck on the iPad.
Fledgling helicopter manufacturer Marenco Swisshelicopter has moved the first flight of its SKYe SH09 light-single helicopter prototype slightly to the right. Initially planned by the end of this year, the maiden sortie is now expected in the first half of next year.
GE Aviation’s new H75 and H85 turboprop engines received EASA certification yesterday. The two new powerplants are, respectively, 750-shp and 850-shp derivatives of the H80 engine, which is itself a derivative of the former Walter M601. FAA type certification of the H75 and H85 is expected next year. Last week, China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Co. (Caiga) selected the H85 to power its five-seat Primus 150 turboprop single.
Vancouver-based Avcorp won a $24.7 million award yesterday from Cessna Aircraft due to damages suffered as a result of the Wichita aircraft manufacturer’s transitioning contracted production work from Avcorp. The two parties could not come to terms in mediation and negotiations after the December 2010 announcement about the transition of Avcorp’s production work to Cessna, so the matter was referred to binding arbitration. The arbitrator ruled in favor of Avcorp and all counterclaims from Cessna were denied.
Bell Helicopter announced purchase agreements for 15 new helicopters at the recently concluded Airshow China 2012 in Zhuhai. The agreements cover two Bell 429s, 11 Bell 407GXs and two Bell 206L4s. Also at the show, Bell announced the signing of a MoU with Guangzhou Civil Aviation College to assist with the establishment of a maintenance training facility for the Bell 206L and Bell 407. In addition, it appointed Shanghai Kingwing General Aviation Co. and H&P General Aviation Service Co. as authorized customer service facilities.
Blue Sky Network recently launched its new SkyRouter iOS and Android mobile applications that can provide real-time aircraft fleet tracking on the go. SkyRouter is a cloud-based solution that can track a company’s aircraft that are equipped with Blue Sky Network’s Iridium tracking and communication services. Features of the New SkyRouter mobile apps include GPS location, fleet asset lists, breadcrumb mapping, active asset indication, automated event reports and drill-down on asset events.
NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen received this year’s Charles Lindbergh General Aviation Diploma from the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) last Tuesday. The award is given for significant contributions to the progress and success of GA in either air sport or transportation, or in the work of international bodies concerned with GA. “[Ed] has had a major, positive impact on the world’s general aviation community for well over a decade and is a most worthy recipient of the Diploma,” said Jonathan Gaffney, president of the National Aeronautic Association, the U.S.
