Signature Flight Support president Beth Haskins remains at her post, despite an announcement earlier this year that she would be leaving this month. She told AIN the delay in her separation is a result of Signature not having found a replacement. She is likely to remain in the position at least through the NBAA Convention, which will take place in Orlando, Fla. (home of Signature headquarters), from November 9 to 11.

Bell Helicopter selected Chelton Flight Systems to provide a glass cockpit for the company’s light single-engine helicopters. The Chelton cockpit will be available from Bell for the Model 407 beginning in the first quarter of 2007. Until then, Bell 407, 206 and 210 owners can upgrade their existing aircraft to synthetic vision through Bell installation facilities or Chelton’s dealer network.

Airline travelers on Delta, Northwest and other airlines operating under bankruptcy protection might face longer lines, delays and fuller and less frequent flights, but it’s “business as usual” at Delta’s business jet charter arm, Delta AirElite, according to a spokesman. “There will be no affect on our ability to serve our charter, membership or aircraft management customers,” he said.

The Department of Civil Aviation of Brazil is investigating the September 16 crash of a 1997 CitationJet following an apparent loss of control during the initial takeoff climb from Rio de Janeiro International Airport, killing the two pilots on board. IMC prevailed during the positioning flight to nearby Jacarepagua Airport. The airplane, S/N 525-0175 and registered as PT-WLX, was owned by JCA Holdings e Participacoes, a Brazilian company.

Over the next couple of months Garrett/Piedmont Hawthorne/Associated will be closing its engine repair facilities in Long Island, N.Y., Columbus, Ohio, and Springfield, Ill., consolidating these services at its facilities in Augusta, Ga., Houston and Los Angeles. In addition, the company’s Springfield operation will become a “center of excellence” for airframe and avionics work, interior refurbishing and aircraft painting.
