Bombardier this week released its first-ever forecast for the business aviation market segments in which it competes, and the Canadian company’s crystal ball is about as rosy as anyone else’s.
“No, I haven’t,” said Piper Aircraft president and CEO Jim Bass, when asked if he has placed his house on the market as Piper grapples with the decision on whether or not to stay in Vero Beach, Fla., or move the entire company to Albuquerque, N.M., or Oklahoma City, Okla. “We have no agenda or plan to leave Vero Beach,” he said.
Cessna Aircraft is riding high on the crest of the business jet sales wave, and it just got a little higher this week at the NBAA Convention. Dassault Falcon’s upcoming super-midsize (SMS) business jet, already known to have fly-by-wire flight controls and Rolls-Royce engines, remains an otherwise fluid project at this stage. Charles Edelstenne, chairman of Dassault Aviation, this morning at the NBAA Convention said that “other partners will be chosen before the end of next year,” at which time Dassault will reveal more details about the proposed airplane.
