A third Falcon 7X, S/N 03, on Tuesday joined the flight-test program. It will be used primarily for avionics, systems, and function and reliability testing. On its first flight of one hour and 43 minutes, the trijet reached 41,000 feet and Mach 0.82, according to Dassault. With this flight, Dassault said the Falcon 7X test fleet has logged 171 hours in 60 sorties.
A line technician died on February 14 after the tug he was driving backed into the wing of a Falcon 900EX at Naples Airport in Florida. Dave Biltz, 44, had been on the job two months, working for the Naples Airport Authority, the airport’s FBO. Biltz had been working as a spotter, but was asked to service the Falcon’s lavatory. While towing a lavatory cart, he backed toward the Falcon’s left wing, said a spokeswoman.
Argentine President Nestor Kirchner disclosed on March 15 that the country would end military control of ATC services and signed a decree creating the National Civil Aviation Authority. The government is still working on a timetable to make the transfer, but according to local sources it should conclude by the end of this year.
DOT Secretary Mary Peters cautioned that aviation delays will grow without significant FAA funding reforms (read: user fees) as forecasters predict air traffic will increase by the equivalent of the traffic generated by two major hub airports each year through 2020. As reported yesterday in AINalerts, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) is in “active discussions” with Washington, D.C.-based Carlyle Group to acquire its Landmark Aviation and Standard Aero companies. According to people familiar with the process, DAE is expected to pay more than $1.5 billion for the two firms.

Honda Aircraft announced this morning deals with three major component suppliers for the HondaJet. GKN Aerospace of Tallassee, Ala., will supply the structural subassembly for the fuselage, while Avcorp of Delta, British Columbia, will provide the wing structure sub-assembly. Both are major suppliers of civil and defense aerospace systems and components.
As Stevens Aviation’s Memphis, Tenn. facility nears certification of a Universal EFI-890R synthetic vision glass panel in the Learjet 25, the company is embarking on a similar project–with added features–for the Learjet 35 series. The Stevens Aviation “Learjet 35 Forever” modification will include the EFI-890R avionics, Raisbeck Engineering’s ZR Lite and locker systems, a fresh interior and Avcon’s RVSM solution.
