In early 2007, Air China and CFM International agreed to establish a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) joint venture. After three years of negotiations the two companies have cleared the final hurdle and have received Chinese government approval for the formation of Sichuan Services Aero Engines Maintenance Company (SSAMC), a 60-40 joint venture between Air China and CFM, located in Chengdu, China.

Cessna Aircraft is adding three maintenance trucks to its international ground-based mobile service unit (MSU) fleet serving Citations across North America and Europe. The latest mobile additions to the Citation Service Center support network become active this month. One unit is positioned at Centennial Airport’s Tac Air facility near Denver.

Timken recently expanded its aerospace aftermarket facility in Mesa, Ariz., with offerings aimed primarily at the turbine-powered civil and military rotorcraft markets. Many overhaul facilities turn to Timken for its repertoire of FAA parts manufacturing approved (PMA) items–more than 1,600 in all–as well as component overhaul and repair, bearing repair and parts replacement services.

It’s been two years since the Nordam Group laid off 63 employees, primarily from the interiors and structures operations unit responsible for business aviation cabin components. It wasn’t the first layoff and brought the total reduction in force to about 7 percent of the company’s employee base, including salaried, hourly and temporary contract employees as well as losses due to attrition.
