The University of Florida Foundation, a not-for-profit corporation, is offering a means to dispose of a retired aircraft in an environmentally friendly manner and in a way that benefits the university’s goals.

Beechcraft announced that Textron has agreed to acquire Beech Holdings, the parent of Beechcraft Corp., for approximately $1.4 billion in cash. Under the terms of the transaction, Textron will acquire the Hawker 4000 and Premier IA type certificates.

Rolls-Royce and StandardAero have finalized a license agreement in which StandardAero will become the engine OEM’s first independent authorized maintenance, repair and overhaul center (Amroc) for the RR300 turbine engine in North America. The agreement, announced earlier this year pending agreement of terms, makes StandardAero one of only six planned Amrocs.

The MRO has already accepted three RR300s at its Winnipeg, Canada repair facility.

Honda Aircraft has received FAA Part 145 certification for its customer service facility. The customer service facility, located at the company’s world headquarters at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, N.C, opened in October.

Ruag Aviation’s Munich-Oberpfaffenhofen paint shop received a second-place besser lackieren (better paint) Green Award in the category of in-house coating: companies with fewer than 50 employees. The award emphasizes the development of coating technologies and know-how through learning from industry leaders. It further aims to highlight the importance of properly performed coating, from extending product and platform service life to enhancing appearances.

Cessna Aircraft is commemorating the 20th anniversary of its Greensboro Citation Service Center. The 137,300-sq-ft facility, located at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, N.C., is reported to be one of the busiest in the network of company-owned service centers. This year alone it handled approximately 2,500 service orders. Greensboro is one of 15 company-owned service centers offering maintenance, inspections, parts, repairs, avionics upgrades, equipment installations, refurbishments and other specialized services for Cessna’s Citation series.

Chicago-based Jet Support Services (JSSI) hosted its first private Management and Maintenance Business Aircraft Conference in China last month, with more than 60 in attendance. The invitation-only, three-day event involved industry professionals from aircraft management companies and aircraft leasing and finance businesses, as well as aircraft owners’ representatives. JSSI presented an analysis of how programs are structured to control maintenance costs and quality as well as enhance aircraft value.

Aviall has earned recognition as a 2014 Military Friendly Employer by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs and Military Spouse magazines. This marks the second consecutive year Aviall has earned this recognition. Companies competed for the title in a survey of more than 5,000 employers. The resulting survey data was independently tested by Ernst & Young based on methodology established by Victory Media.

Patrick Gentile has joined Spirit Aeronautics as regional sales manager to spearhead new business development in the U.S. Southern Region. Gentile brings more than 20 years of experience and relationships in aviation sales and marketing to Spirit Aeronautics. Most recently, he was founder and president of Gentile Aircraft Consulting, orchestrating corporate aircraft evaluations, interior and exterior planning, pre-purchase inspection oversight, post-purchase upgrades, scheduled maintenance and contract negotiations.

CRS Jet Spares, a Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based AS9120/ISO 9001-certified provider of aviation parts, has named Marcus Cortez to the position of quality systems manager and Robert Friedman to quality director. “Quality within an organization is the requirement of all within CRS; however the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the organization is in compliance with the quality standards of AS9120/ISO9001 will be in the hands of Cortez and Friedman. Their industry experience and quality backgrounds will be a great asset,” said CRS president and CEO Armando Leighton.
