Bell Helicopter’s facility in Prague, Czech Republic, will become the OEM’s regional customization, delivery and aftermarket service center to address growing European demand. In addition to upgrades to the facility, the company laid out its plans for future investments in Europe, including expanded customization capabilities and regional training. The company changed the name of the facility from Aviation Services to Bell Helicopter.

Royal Aero Group has opened an airframe parts operation in North Carolina. Based in Miesbach, Germany, the company bills itself as an aviation re-distribution, leasing and engine consultancy business specializing in aircraft, jet engines and surplus OEM parts.

Ameco Beijing is installing another tail dock at its four-bay hangar to handle growing overhaul workload. The design of the new dock, the fourth to be installed in this hangar, takes into account the needs of new aircraft types such as the Boeing 787 and 747-8. The hangar can be used at capacity with four docks, speeding turn-around time. The $1 million project is slated to be finished by the end of September.

Cirrus Aircraft launched a parts and aftermarket service program, called Cirrus Direct, that replaces API’s Cirrus Parts program. The company believes the new service will enhance the ownership and operating experience for its customers.

Gulfstream Aerospace has bolstered its European support of Gulfstream operators with the addition of a custom-outfitted Field and Airborne Support Team (Fast) vehicle. The Iveco cargo van, based at Gulfstream’s facility at London Luton Airport, can transport up to three technicians to support operators with AOG or other predicaments.

Satcom Direct has added dedicated classrooms as part of the cabin communications lab where it provides training in conjunction with FlightSafety. Satcom Direct has worked with the FlightSafety learning center in Savannah, Ga., since 2012 to develop and deliver training classes on satcom technology for Gulfstream operators. The training is delivered in partnership with Gulfstream’s Total Technical Training (TTT) program.

India’s SpiceJet has contracted with Dowty Propellers to support the propellers on the airline’s 15 Bombardier Q400 NextGen regional turboprops. The eight-year contract covers repairs, overhaul, technical assistance, rotable spares and on-site support. Dowty will provide mobile service engineers to perform repairs both on-site and in the field.

Aircraft Structures International (ASIC) plans to install the P&WC PT6A-140 turboprop in the Cessna Grand Caravan and the original Caravan with STCs in place by year-end. Branded the Ultimate Caravan, it will provide owners of older Caravans performance similar to that of the Cessna Grand Caravan EX, according to ASIC.

Neil Simon has joined King Aerospace Commercial (KACC) as avionics manager. Simon will lead the KACC avionics team in Ardmore, Okla., where he will oversee avionics modifications on private and business aircraft. Simon brings 20 years of avionics experience to KACC, last serving as avionics manager/STC project manager at Temple Electronics in Houston. Simon’s avionics career began with an eight-year stint in the U.S. Navy.

The FAA is superseding emergency AD 2014-12-52 for all Honeywell TFE731-4, -4R, -5AR, -5BR, -5R, -20R, -20AR, -20BR, -40, -40AR, -40R, -40BR, -50R and -60 turbofans. It required a review of the engine logbook maintenance records to determine if any affected engines are installed and also prohibited operation of an airplane with two or more affected engines that have second-stage low-pressure turbine (LPT2) blades with fewer than 250 operating hours since new.
