The 17-year-old FAA Aviation Maintenance Awards Program has undergone a major change. According to the FAA Safety Team’s (FAASTeam) latest issue of Nuts and Bolts, the program is now administered online. Using accident causal factors, the FAA has developed appropriate training courses to mitigate risk and reduce accidents.

On June 18 a Learjet 40XR suffered severe damage at Fort Worth’s Meacham International Airport after an engine thrust control became stuck while taxiing during an engine run. According to airport manager Bill Welstead, the aircraft was throttled up while leaving Turbine Engine Specialists when the technicians noted that the engine control on the left engine was stuck.
Waco, Texas-based Blackhawk Modifications is offering an engine upgrade program with up to 100-percent financing to qualified U.S. buyers covering engines, shipping and installation of factory-new Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A engines. The company targets the King Air 90 and 200, Conquest I, Cheyenne and Caravan.
Jet Aviation Singapore has expanded its EASA Part 145-approved base and line maintenance service offerings to include maintenance for the Bombardier Challenger 601/604/605 and Cessna 560XL. The facility now handles BBJ and Bombardier aircraft, including the Global Express, as well as Cessna Citations and the full range of Gulfstream jets.
After an extended battle with financial problems, New Jersey-based Millville Jet Center (MJC) ended six years of operation. The Delaware River & Bay Authority (DRBA) says it has been trying to work out a mutually acceptable lease agreement for the 45,000-sq-ft hangar and office space on Millville Municipal Airport but to no avail.
