Hudson, Mass.-based Test Devices has sold approximately $17 million worth of jet engine test equipment to Russia and China. The company delivered two test facilities to the Central Institute for Aviation Motors (CIAM) in Russia. One rig performs low-cycle fatigue testing (LCF) and the other conducts dynamic spin testing. The equipment can perform production pre-spin, proof testing, overspeed to burst, and complex LCF and HCF testing.

The National Research Council of Canada (NRC) has launched an initiative called Aircraft Cabin Environment Technologies (ACET) to develop, apply and evaluate technologies for healthy and comfortable aircraft cabin environments in pressurized fixed-wing aircraft. Key areas for technology development include acoustics, lighting, ventilation, indoor air quality and health.  “NRC does research for companies that contract with them.

Eurocopter has opened a new global logistics facility in Les Florides industrial park near its production plant in Marignane in the south of France. It joins a logistics distribution system that includes facilities in Donauwörth, Germany; Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport, France; and Hong Kong as well as customer service centers in both Hong Kong and Dallas.

Lufthansa Technik has begun construction of a new maintenance hangar at the future Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER). The Hamburg-based company is investing $23 million in the new hangar, which will be able to accommodate up to five short-haul and medium-haul aircraft or alternatively one widebody as large as an Airbus A340. Completion of the 72,000-sq-ft facility is anticipated to be in the first half of next year.
