On Monday, Bombardier Aerospace inaugurated its first dedicated Customer Response Team (CRT) aircraft, a Learjet 45 that will be used to provide a rapid response for aircraft on ground (AOG)/unscheduled maintenance events in the continental U.S.

Duncan Aviation is moving its Duncan Intelligence Live tech support function to the Aircraft Electronics Association (AEA) 57th Annual International Convention and Trade Show held March 12 to 15 in Nashville. Duncan Intelligence Live will feature Duncan Aviation’s avionics tech reps Curt Campbell, Dan Magnus, Scott McKenzie and Larry Troyer working one-on-one with aircraft owners and operators (Booth #604) during the hours the exhibition hall is open.

Winner Aviation has expanded its maintenance operation into a hangar it acquired in 2011. The 14,000-sq-ft building provides Winner an additional 12,000 sq ft of hangar space and 2,000 sq ft of office space. The new maintenance hangar will enable Winner to accommodate light to midsize business jets as well as other turbine aircraft for maintenance repairs and inspections.

GE Aviation and Bristow Group signed the first engine service agreement for the CT7-2E1 turboshaft that powers the new AgustaWestland AW189 twin. The agreement expands the longstanding GE-Bristow partnership by adding the AW189s’ engines to Bristow’s global fleet of powerplants maintained under a maintenance cost per hour (MCPH) service agreement.

In a move designed to promote economic development and position a more strongly aligned workforce, Illinois’ Greater Rockford Airport Authority (GRAA) and Rock Valley College (RVC) have combined efforts to create an expanded aviation maintenance technology program.

The FAA proposes a $90,000 civil penalty against Red Eagle Aviation of Kalispell, Mont., for allegedly operating a Bell 206 helicopter not in compliance with FARs. The agency alleges the company made numerous flights, including at least 80 revenue flights, when it had not performed required periodic overhauls of the helicopter’s tail-rotor hub and main-rotor mast assemblies. Failure to perform the overhauls within the time period specified by the manufacturer meant the helicopter was not airworthy.

Springfield, Ohio-based Spectra Jet has been issued new operations specifications that cover every Learjet, including the 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 series. “Our trained technicians, support equipment and facility are poised to support both new and classic aircraft,” a spokesman for the company said. Spectra Jet, which specializes in Learjet maintenance and service, was founded by former Learjet field service reps.

Banyan Air Service will host a Garmin seminar on Thursday, March 20. It will be held at Jet Café (next to Banyan) on Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. The seminar will include updates on the latest avionics for airplanes and helicopters, including the G1000, G600, G500, G500H, GTN 750 and aera 796, as well as GDL 88 and GDL 39 ADS-B equipment. It will also be available online.

Air Services of Cleveland, Ohio, has concluded a general terms agreement with Liebherr-Aerospace for support of the landing gear on the Embraer E170/175/190/195 series and the nose landing gear on the ERJ-145. “This agreement allows us to acquire and maintain updated technical documentation on the E-Jets… The agreement with Liebherr will leverage our current landing-gear and engineering services into larger airframes.

Metro Aviation announced Mark Breton will be joining the MRO as director of maintenance in late March or early April. He has more than 25 years in the aviation industry, with a strong background in aircraft maintenance, helicopter EMS operations and project management. Breton spent most of his career in Texas, but most recently served as the v-p and director of maintenance for Air Medical Resource Group in Salt Lake City, Utah.
